Donald Trump Jr. said former Fox News host Tucker Carlson “would certainly be a contender” for his father’s choice as a presidential running mate.
“That’s obviously going to be discussed,” Don Jr. said. when asked on Newsmax Thursday if the former president is “serious about Tucker Carlson” as a possible vice president if he wins the 2024 election.
“I mean they’re very friendly, I think they agree on almost all of these things,” Don Jr. said. to Rob Finnerty on “Wake Up America.”
“They certainly agreed to stop the endless war. So, I would like to see that happen. That will definitely be a contender.”
The former president himself previously said he would consider Carlson for the position.
“I really like Tucker; I think I would,” Trump said in an interview on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” in November. “I think I would say I would, because he has good sense.”

During a Fox News town hall last week, Trump, 77, hinted that he had made up his mind about his choice of running mate, saying: “I know who it’s going to be.”
For his part, Carlson has played down the idea that he would run for public office, saying it would be “hard to imagine.”
Carlson, 54, hosted the flagship show on Fox News for six years before being fired in April without explanation.
The popular anchor’s sudden exit comes just days after the network agreed to pay $787 million to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems over the spread of lies about the 2020 presidential election.

Carlson has since launched his own streaming service, the Tucker Carlson Network, and he also hosts a news show on X.
Don Jr. also floated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Ben Carson, who served as housing secretary in the Trump administration, as a potential running mate.
“You need someone who’s aligned, as well as, like, aggressive. You actually need a fighter,” he said. “Republicans in Washington, DC, are weak. You can have a House, a Senate, and they’ll still roll.”
The only person Don Jr. said he doesn’t want to see a White House run with his father is former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who he claims is “financed by Democrats.”
“I’m going to do whatever I can to make sure it’s not Nikki Haley!” he said. “That’s my opinion, I didn’t make this decision.”
