Two people were killed and at least four injured after an apartment building was destroyed in a Russian airstrike on the city of Zaporizhzhia, officials in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region said on Wednesday.
“A search and rescue operation is underway at the site,” Anatoliy Kurtiev, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia city council, said on the Telegram messaging app.
Yuriy Malashko, the governor of Zaporizhzhia region, said that eight apartment buildings were damaged in what he said was a Russian missile attack.

Earlier, an officer stationed in Moscow in the Russian-controlled part of Zaporizhzhia blamed the attack in the city on Ukrainian forces.
The city of Zaporizhzhia is the administrative center of the wider Zaporizhzhia region in southeastern Ukraine, which is now partially controlled by Russia.
