Chiefs fan Paul Contreras has spoken out after bravely tackling one of the suspected shooters in the tragic mass shooting to the ground.
During the conversation with KETV news, Contreras talked about the intensity of the moment and how he didn’t think about it and just acted on impulse.
He said, “A guy was screaming and saying, ‘stop him, arrest him, arrest him,’ anything, and he just wanted to run. And out of nowhere, I heard the guy yell, so I was just like, ‘Okay, I’m here.’”
Contreras continued, “I didn’t think about it. I really… reaction. I didn’t hesitate; it’s just, ‘Just do it.’ So I went to tackle him, and another guy did the same thing, and as I tackled him, I saw that his weapon was either out of his hand or his sleeve because he was wearing a long jacket.”
He shared that after seeing the weapon, he realized they had to “take this guy down,” so he and other individuals made sure to hold the alleged shooter in place while calling the police.
According to Contreras, it felt like forever before the police came to arrest the alleged shooter, but it actually only took seconds.
