UK woman, 62, goes on car vandalism spree because she felt ‘menopausal’

A 62-year-old UK woman damaged several parked cars during a walk – and blamed her actions on “feeling menopausal.”

Sue Williams scratched a number of vehicles – including a Mercedes and a Range Rover – with her keys during her vandalism last year in Sevenoaks, Kent, the Telegraph reports of a new court hearing.

On March 18, 2022, he entered three cars, including a Seat Tarraco that needed about $3,400 in repairs, according to the outlet.

About a week later, he targeted a Mercedes, which cost about $1,800 to repair, and then a Mini, a Vauxhall Mokka, a Fiat 500 and a Range Rover Vogue, causing nearly $2,500 in damage, the Times of London reported.

In all cases, he reportedly targeted cars parked with at least two wheels on the sidewalk.

Williams was charged with multiple counts of criminal damage and admitted to the crime.

Her lawyer, Stewart Lewis, told Medway magistrates that the only reason Williams locked the vehicle was because she felt “menopausal.”

“It was not identified as such, but something happened in his mind to damage the vehicle. They are all placed on the pavement and it restricts people from walking on the pavement,” he said.

“They have to go on the road to get around the vehicles,” Lewis added.

On October 25, the woman appeared in court, where she was sentenced to a three-month curfew, during which she must stay at home between 8pm and 6am

William was also ordered to repay more than $5,500 to the owners, some of whom repaired the damage with their insurance.

Lewis told the court that Williams’ husband would cash in his pension to pay for the damages.
