Career
Ugen Namgyal Bhutia aka UNB is a skilled and energetic rapper based in Sikkim. He was born in an underprivileged tribal family and what dragged him into the rap industry was the racist attitude that prevailed against people living in the Northeast region of India. It was in 2014 when UNB was introduced to the world with the rap song ‘Call Me Indian’ where the rapper continued to touch on the bitter reality of how indigenous people from the northeast of the country often face discrimination and racism in their daily lives from ignorant countrymen. Fast forward to 2022, eight years after UNB was born, the rapper has created a new persona of himself that he calls MC Panda, a cocky version of UNB.
With his constant efforts and hard work, UNB made his way to India’s first Rap/Hip-Hop reality show MTV Hustle season 2. The show aired on MTV channel with Baadshah as judge and Dino James, Dee MC, King, EPR as Squad Boss and hosted by Krissann Barretto. Although her journey on the show was very short but the judges appreciated her for creating a buzz with her lyrics, which mostly talked about the representation of those with Mongoloid features in India.
All of his singles revolve around social issues and civic problems faced by people, especially people living in the northeastern part of the country. He has released various songs on YouTube till date such as, Hum Bhi Kya Kam Hai, Made In India, Dhoti and Chogyal.
