The US Office of Palestinian Affairs called on Israelis to “refrain from violence and retaliation” in response to Hamas attacking Israel – then deleted the message.
“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack by Hamas and the loss of life that has been incurred. We urge all parties to refrain from violence and counter-attacks. Violence and violence solve nothing,” the office posted Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Why is the @JoeBiden administration telling Israel not to respond to horrific crimes committed by Palestinian terrorists?” Etan Fischberger asked X.

After deleting the message, the office wrote it was “monitoring” the situation.
“The US embassy is closely monitoring the security situation due to rocket attacks from Gaza across southern and central Israel. US citizens are reminded to remain vigilant and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness,” according to the next post on X.

Later, the account reposted a statement from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemning the attack.
