More users want Elon Musk to stop running the payment experience on X!
Users of the app voiced their exact views on the matter after the business magnate’s team announced that they will begin testing the new payment method for users in New Zealand and the Philippines. The test follows Musk’s call that all users may soon have to subscribe to X as a way to combat fraud and spam on the platform.
X User Elon Musk Slams Him Over His Continued Bad Decisions About Apps
X has announced a test of a program called “Not Bots,” which requires new users in New Zealand and the Philippines to sign up for a $1 annual subscription to post and interact with other content.
New users in the test region who choose not to subscribe to the premium or annual service can still read posts, watch videos and follow accounts. However, they will not be able to do so interact on the platform.
“This new test was developed to strengthen our already successful efforts to reduce spam, platform manipulation and bot activity, while balancing platform accessibility with small fees. It is not a profit driver,” the statement read before directing readers to an all-inclusive landing page new payment attempt.
Funny how every solution for Twitter he ever came up with was to implement a pay wall

The post has gone viral, garnering more than 20 million views, nearly 5k reposts and 17.4k likes. As already mentioned, X users aren’t having it and they haven’t hesitated to express their displeasure at Musk’s seemingly strange — and relentless — app modifications to the app.
“Okay, so “making people pay for something that was free a minute ago because I have to pay back over 44 billion in debt I have” is now called “testing a new program,” mmmh I see,” a cynical critic recordedas another summary fell three clown emojis.
Third person wondering“How will paying a $1 annual fee reduce spam and bots on X?,” while a fourth demanded, “This platform is going through the worst bot phase in the 14 years I’ve been here. Please stop pretending this app makes a successful change. it gets worse with every update.”
Fifth reviewer expressed“this seems like an obviously terrible idea for a social website,” the sixth idea questioned“Can you make a good decision for once in your life?,” and the seventh sounded, “The bot problem got worse with Elon buying Twitter. The issue with Twitter isn’t bots, it’s Elon. Get rid of him.”
“Funny how every solution for Twitter he’s ever come up with is to implement a pay wall,” an eighth pundit said observed.
OpenAI Co-Founder Is Considering Making Every X User Pay For Apps
Musk previously caused confusion when he suggested during a live stream conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that implementing “small monthly payments” could potentially help reduce the presence of bots on X.
“It’s the only way I can think of to combat a large army of bots,” the SpaceX boss said, explaining further that his platform has 550 million monthly users who collectively generate 100 million to 200 million broadcasts per day.

This proposed approach appears to differ from X’s premium subscription service, which costs $8 per month for benefits such as blue checkmarks, preferred ranking and post-editing.
The former Tesla chairman also targeted content creation in his bid to make the app profitable enough to attract advertisers. According to X recently, Musk stated:
“For those who are considering putting their work on the X platform, consider that Tucker Carlson’s show when he was on TV, had a single digit million viewers. Strong by old news standards. Viewership for his episodes on X now exceeds the population of the United States. Talk to Earth through X!”
Musk also tried to get comedian Bill Maher to return to X following the last update that “Real Time” would make a comeback during the Guild of America strike.
“Real Time will return, unfortunately, without writers or writing. It’s been five months, and it’s time to get people back to work. The writers have important issues that I sympathize with, and hope they are addressed to their satisfaction, but they are not the only people with issues, problems and concerns.
Despite the help from me, most of the staff are struggling tremendously,” the host of “Politically Incorrect” detailed in a statement posted on X. He added that while he loves his writers, he doesn’t plan “to lose the whole year and see so many people bottom line that is suffering greatly.” Maher later outlined a series of segments he would cut in the strike.
Responding to the lengthy declaration, Musk typed, “It might be worth posting some stuff on this platform. The reach is huge.”
