During an appearance on the PEOPLE Every Day podcast, the “Good Kisser” singer revealed why fans will never see her in the Battle of Verzuz. The Dallas native originally guest starred on the show to discuss his Las Vegas residency. But, the “Same Girl” artist couldn’t help but address her lack of interest in the Verzuz series.

Usher, a man who wastes no time showering himself with the praise he deserves, told host Janine Rubenstein that the web series couldn’t handle what he had to offer. “I think if you’ve ever come to my show, you’ll understand that I don’t think Verzuz can handle all the songs I have to be honest,” the 43-year-old said.

The eight-time Grammy winner says she can do the job alone, but Verzuz doesn’t follow the “me versus me” theme. Nevertheless, the singer appreciated the concept of the show. The “Hands Of Stone” actor stated that the music that Verzuz celebrates is great. However, the Dallas native believes true appreciation comes from understanding an artist’s legacy.

As the show featured two musicians going head-to-head with each other’s hits, Usher declared that there was no match for his musical prowess. “I’m a different animal, man,” the TV personality boasted. “I’m cut from a different cloth, man. And when you put those songs on, I’m telling you, I don’t think anybody in the world is going to want to smoke with their songs.”

The Verzuz series, created by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz during the pandemic as a virtual DJ battle, has grown into a sensation among artists. There are two healthy seasons in the show, with a total of 43 episodes. Some of the biggest names in the industry have become famous, including Alicia Keys and John Legend, Bow Wow and Soulja Boy, along with other A-listers.

While Usher doesn’t plan on joining the list, the “In The MIX” actor had a blast in the infamous Sin City. Earlier this week, the entertainer announced that he would be extending his Las Vegas residency at Park MGM. The “There Goes My Baby” artist added 25 new dates, from March 3, 2023, to July 15, 2023. When asked why he chose to extend his residency, the 43-year-old said:

“Having an audience that comes to you is always great. I love the fact that I get to really celebrate all my years of music and see a really mixed and eclectic group of people.”

Additionally, Usher admitted that the real reason he decided to add more dates was because living and performing in Vegas fit his lifestyle. As for his lack of interest in doing the Battle of Verzuz, the “Hey Daddy” artist is not alone. As previously shared by The Blast, Mariah Carey echoed similar thoughts about fighting with Beyoncé.

The Christmas Queen admitted that she adores and respects the famous vocalist. But, her love for the 40-year-old was not enough to make her fight with the “Drunk In Love” singer. According to Carey, it would be disrespectful to her if she got involved with Beyoncé in the Battle of Verzuz. Instead, the 53-year-old prioritized making holiday hits over facing Queen Bey.

‘Confessions’ Singer Declares Himself King of R&B

Usher has earned several titles with his stellar achievements, so it’s no surprise when PageSix reports that the Dallas native believes he deserves to be called the King of R&B. The BET Award winner claimed this title during an appearance on SiriusXM and Andy’s Radio collaboration podcast, “Bevelations.” According to the “Superstar” singer, the honor is long overdue.

The 43-year-old explained that throughout his successful career, he has worked hard and gotten to the point where he doesn’t need to ask for praise. Instead, the entertainer stated that he should be named the King of R&B.
