Utah Sen. Mike Lee endorses Trump: ‘Our one opportunity to choose order over chaos’

Senator Mike Lee threw his support behind former President Donald Trump on Friday, “wholeheartedly” backing his 2024 White House run.

The Utah Republican argued during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” that voters should cast their ballots for Trump regardless of whether they “agree with everything he’s saying, or not,” because the 77-year-old embodies “the command,” while President Biden symbolizes “chaos”.

“The American people have a choice to make. In this situation, they have a unique historical opportunity to choose between two presidents,” said Lee. “They have the opportunity to choose between order and lawlessness. They have the opportunity to choose between putting America first or America last. I chose first and always put America first.

“Look, whether you like Donald Trump or not, whether you agree with everything he says, or not, he’s our only chance to choose order over chaos and put America first over America last,” he added. “It’s time to get behind him.”

Lee, who has served in the upper chamber since 2011, is the 21st GOP senator to endorse Trump – a list that includes Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Rick Scott (R- Fla.) , Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) – according to the Hill.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley — Trump’s main GOP rivals — have yet to receive a single sitting senator’s endorsement, the outlet said.

“Look, in a presidential campaign there’s always a lot of promises made,” Lee continued during his Fox News appearance. “My favorite kind of political promise is one that is kept. Donald Trump has kept the promises he made as he has campaigned in the past. We know what kind of president he will be.

“So whether you agree with him on every point or not, if you’re not satisfied with the status quo, the status quo of lawlessness, puts America in last place,” he continued.

“The time has come to support Donald Trump and I wholeheartedly support Donald J. Trump in his bid for the presidency in 2024.”

Trump celebrated the senator’s ringing endorsement in a Truth Social post, writing, “THANK YOU—MAGA!!!”

Trump has previously endorsed Lee in the 2022 midterm re-election contest.
