- In June 2019, local police in Wanaparthy district took legal action against car driver Varun Teja for exceeding the speed limit. On 12 June 2019, in a car accident in Rayanipeta, Wanaparthy district, a Mercedes Benz car driven by Varun Teja rammed into a TATA Indica car. The driver of the Indica turned left towards Rayanipeta village, and because the Benz was going too fast, the driver could not slow down. Local police reported that four people in the Indica car sustained minor injuries, while Varun and three others were unhurt. Varun was traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru with his driver and two others for a film shoot. While addressing the media, the local police said,
