Vasanth Kumar Ravi was born on Thursday, January 1, 1981 (age 42 years; in 2023) in Chennai. His zodiac sign is Capricorn.
He attended DMI St John’s International Residential School and AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. While he was pursuing his MBBS at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, he developed an interest in acting. However, his family opposed his decision. One of his friends Gopi encouraged him to make his career in acting, and while he was doing his MBBS training, he applied to the Anupam Kher School of Acting in Mumbai. In 2010, he was selected there and followed a diploma course in acting from there. Later, he took an acting course at Mindscreen Film Institute, Chennai. In 2011, he obtained a Masters in Healthcare Management at Alliance Manchester Business School, Manchester, England.

- After completing his training, he took an acting course at the Anupam Kher School of Acting in Mumbai. After completing his course, he started auditioning for various acting projects. He later met Indian filmmaker Rajiv Menon, who asked him to join his institute for an acting course, as a team from the Indian theater group Koothu-P-Pattarai was teaching a course there. Vasanth agrees with him. In an interview, he said that he wanted to be an actor, but his family wanted him to pursue a master’s degree, so he told them that he would do healthcare management in Manchester, UK. While he was in the UK, his post-study visa was revoked, so he had to go back and work. While he was working in India, Indian film director Ram approached him for a film.
