Controversy
Veena’s son Sachin Kapoor had previously filed a suit against her over a dispute over her property worth Rs 12 crore. Veena’s friend and co-star Nilu Kohli revealed in an interview that he has been fighting the case for a long time. He said,
There are always issues. Ever since I’ve known him, he’s been fighting this case. He always prays and does puja every time there is a trial of his case. Home is the only goal of his life. That’s why I feel so bad for him. He has worked so much for this house. But in the end this is what happened to him. In the end, nobody gets anything. The boy went to prison for 20 years. It’s a lifetime now.”
Death
On 6 December 2022, Veena Kapoor was murdered by her son, Sachin Kapoor, in Juhu, Mumbai. His son beat him to death by smashing his head several times with a baseball bat. Later, the accused’s son threw his mother’s body into a river near Raigarh district. Their servant Lalu Kumar Mandal was involved in the murder. However, the police later found a baseball bat and found his body.
