Elon Musk’s Twitter ‘era’ is facing criticism again.
The social media giant has undergone several changes since Musk took ownership last October. Countless celebrities have called Musk for his management of the ‘bird app’, he has suspended user accounts for impersonation and has caused massive confusion among verified users over the past few months.
Musk started a campaign to impose a blue check mark on Twitter users next to their name shortly after taking the reigns as CEO of Twitter.
Several celebrities have spoken out against Musk’s plan, including Stephen King, Trevor Noah, and Doja Cat, to name a few. The 27-year-old “Kiss Me More” singer slammed Musk and users who choose to pay an $8.00 monthly subscription to Twitter Blue.

Late last month, the official Verified Twitter account announced the company would “begin winding down our legacy verified program and remove the legacy verified checkmark.” The tweet also informed users that they must subscribe to Twitter Blue to retain the signature blue verification checkmark. The policy will be enacted on April 1.
Four days later, however, users have begun to notice that no action has been taken to implement this policy.
According to NBC News, many Twitter Blue subscribers have canceled their memberships but still see their blue checkmarks there. The disgruntled users expressed their frustration with the outlet and described the features they could no longer function.
Those users “are subject to comments throughout the day when they want to change their profile picture or display name. While still verified, they no longer have access to the edit button or the long-form tweet, which is a subscription benefit,” the outlet reported.
What Happens Instead?

Instead of the promised change, users receive a popup message when a verified checkmark is clicked. However, it does not differentiate between Twitter Blue clients or verified legacy accounts. According to The Hill, before there was a difference.
As of this writing, Musk has not explained the changes, and it is unclear whether he will implement more changes in the coming weeks.
Stephen King Blasts Musk Over Twitter’s Blue Subscription And Musk Fires Back
$20 a month to keep my blue check? Screw that, they should pay me. If that starts, I’ll go like Enron.

Back in November, Musk initially announced the Twitter Blue 20.00 subscription. After a war of words with “Carrie” author Stephen King, he dropped the price to 8.00.
According to our report on the meeting, King tweeted, “$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that; they should pay me. If that starts, I’m going to go like Enron.” He also slammed Musk’s “principal” for charging for a previously free feature.
Musk responded, “We’ve got to pay the bills somehow! Twitter can’t rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8.00?” his first tweet read. “I will explain this rationale in longer form before it is implemented. It’s the only way to defeat bots and trolls.”
According to a tweet from Matt BinderMusk allegedly deleted a tweet responding to a query about removing the legacy verified checkmark.
Elon Musk quickly deleted a tweet saying legacy verified accounts would not lose their check mark on April 1 as he had previously said, not for “a few more weeks”

A screenshot of his exchange shows Musk replying to a tweet from DogeDesigner, in which he wrote, “We’ll give them a few weeks grace unless they say they won’t pay now, in which case we’ll take it out.”
Musk has not addressed the allegedly deleted tweet as of this writing.
