Israeli forces found a sniper rifle and ammunition hidden in a large teddy bear during a raid on a school in the Gaza Strip.
The weapon was found on the school grounds in the Gaza City neighborhood of Shejaia on Friday after the Israel Defense Forces engaged in heavy fighting with Hamas terrorist cells in the area, according to Israeli news reports.
A video released by the IDF shows soldiers pulling a giant teddy from a pile of furniture and other items scattered in a classroom, placing it, and slicing it.
Hidden among the stuffing was a long rifle and a box of ammunition.
The school was used for terrorist purposes by Hamas, according to the IDF.
Soldiers found more weapons hidden in a classroom at an adjacent school, in a bag labeled “UNRWA.”
The initials stand for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, which provides aid and protection for Palestinian refugees, according to its website.
A sniper rifle and ammunition were found in a teddy bear during an IDF raid on a school compound in Gaza City as Israel continued its bombing campaign in the area, according to reports.
A search of the school grounds where the teddy bear was found also revealed a tunnel shaft in a classroom, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post.
The discovery of the tunnel adds to evidence that Hamas uses public areas, such as hospitals and shelters, as cover for its terrorist activities, the report said.
Earlier this week, the IDF said it had discovered one of the largest caches of Hamas weapons in the history of its operations in Gaza next to schools and hospitals.
The video shows soldiers pulling a giant teddy from a pile of furniture and other items scattered in a classroom, placing it and slicing it.
The weapons cache contained hundreds of missiles and explosives, among other weapons, according to reports.
“Who kept RPG missiles, anti-tank missiles, explosive devices, long-range missiles, grenades and UAVs in a school and medical facility in Gaza?” The IDF asked in broadcast on X Wednesday. “The answer: Hamas. Hamas does not hide their violence. Stop forgiving him.”
Saturday, Israeli warplanes continued to attack parts of the Gaza Strip by land, sea and air.
Hidden among the stuffing was a long rifle and a box of ammunition.
Its aerial bombardment campaign has hit several areas in the south of the region that have told Palestinians to evacuate, according to reports.
The airstrikes came a day after the US vetoed a UN resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire.
The Security Council vote was 13-1, with the United Kingdom abstaining.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday that Gaza was at the “point of destruction” with its humanitarian support system on the brink of collapse, and several Arab countries expressed deep displeasure at the US veto.
The school where the bear was found had been used for terrorist purposes by Hamas, according to the IDF. The Israeli army pulled the rifle out of the big stuffed bear.
Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, touted by the US as the post-war governing authority for Gaza, said that the veto was “an embarrassment that will follow the United States for years.”
With the war entering its third month, the death toll in Gaza has reached more than 17,400, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
