Video recorded on Saturday shows a tornado hitting the town of Clarksville, the fifth largest city in Tennessee.
The footage below captures the moment a dark funnel cloud moves across the horizon, with a neighborhood of detached houses with vehicles sitting in driveways in the foreground.
Another video shows a tornado forming across a crowded mall parking lot. The buildings are completely dwarfed by the gigantic gray clouds swirling in the distance.
Below, a tornado is shot moving behind a large transmission tower in a field. The texture of the tornado is more apparent in this clip, as the rotor’s strong winds can be seen swirling around its core.
A traffic camera in Clarksville captured the supercell that produced the tornado. Footage from the camera shows the vehicle driving along the road as if it were any other day.
The Montgomery County sheriff’s office, where Clarksville is located, released a statement confirming that the tornado touched down in the Hand Estates area, a neighborhood in the northwest part of the city. They said damage had occurred to several houses.
The office added that they do not have any confirmed deaths or missing persons.
The supercell, along with a tornado, is part of a severe weather system that has hit the mid-South on Saturday. Before reaching Clarksville, the thunderstorm is believed to have spawned at least one other tornado in northwest Tennessee.
