Vivek Ramaswamy and Trump applaud each other at Mar-a-Lago as veep buzz swirls

Donald Trump and former GOP presidential rival Vivek Ramaswamy were all smiles together at Saturday night’s Mar-A-Lago Trumpettes gala — sending netizens into a frenzy amid veepstakes rumors.

Ramaswamy, 38, and his wife Apoorva were seen entering the gala with the former president and 77-year-old former first lady Melania Trump at the “Golden Evening for a Golden President” event.

“Vivek is here. He is smart. He is sharp. I was happy to take him out of the race. And as soon as he came out, he supported me. And he has an amazing future,” Trump enthused as he welcomed Vivek to the stage Saturday evening.

“He’s young, and he’s smart. Melania and I just said, ‘You don’t get sharper than this.’ “

A smiling Ramaswamy quickly took to the podium and returned the compliment to Trump, warning that “we are in the middle of a war in this country” and need him back in the White House.

Ramaswamy touched on a handful of key issues such as inflation and borders, arguing that Trump is ready to tackle them.

During the roughly 11 months of his bid for the presidency in the 2024 GOP cycle, Ramawamy considered himself a staunch MAGA aide interested in moving the Trump agenda forward. He rarely criticizes Trump.

Since dropping out of the race, he has joined the former president on the campaign trail and has opened the door to becoming Trump’s vice presidential nominee.

“It must be who will be a good president. You always have to think that,” Trump told Fox Business Network’s “Sunday Morning Futures” earlier this month, referring to his vice presidential pick. “I have a lot of good people. We have a lot of really good people.”

Trump also named Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem in the interview, teasing that he would not make the decision public for “a while”.

Last month, after Trump slammed Ramaswamy ahead of the Iowa Caucuses, a top Trump adviser suggested to The Post that the public “maybe” could reject Ramaswamy as a veep candidate.

The two have since apparently mended fences.

Ramaswamy’s recent appearance with Trump at Mar-a-Lago helped revive chatter about his prospects.

“Donald Trump US President and Vivek Ramaswamy as Vice President will cause record levels of recession here,” user Pavvy G posted on X.

Conservative podcast host Monica Crowley wrote, “President and Mrs. Trump hosted Vivek and Apoorva Ramaswamy last night at Mar-a-Lago. Things are moving.”

Complaints about Ramaswamy being Trump’s vice presidential running mate were also sparked earlier this month by a New York Times opinion piece that suggested he was a strong contender.
