Fresh off a sharp performance in Wednesday night’s fourth Republican debate, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy got an early Thursday morning response from “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade about his policy on Ukraine.
Kilmeade cut right to the chase and asked the White House contender whether he was comfortable giving “Russia as much Ukraine as they want” as well as whether Ramaswamy was confident he could separate Russia and China in exchange.
“I think we have to play hard there and make a tough deal that requires any breach of that deal to have huge consequences,” Ramaswamy replied.
Ramaswamy has long prioritized his approach to the Ukraine war on the goal of fracturing Sino-Russian ties — which he sees as the main threat to national security.
When pressed about other punishments the US could impose given that sanctions on Russia are already in place, Ramaswamy explained that he would support a “maximum pressure campaign.”
“It will be done anyway. You can’t keep Russia from China,” countered Kilmeade.

Ramaswamy countered that there was a “tangle in the relationship.”
Kilmeade then asked if he was comfortable with Russia taking more of Eastern Europe.
“We don’t know how Ukraine has spent $200 billion of our money. We are spending more taxpayers’ money,” Ramaswamy replied. “That’s bribery.”
Since Russian troops invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Congress has authorized about $113 billion in aid, but not all of it has been delivered. President Biden is seeking more money for the war-torn nation as the war nears the end of its second year.
Ramaswamy also disputes the characterization of Ukraine as a democratic country.

“You sound so naive!” Kilmeade replied. “You just gave up Ukraine and then in a few years, you’re going to criticize Joe Biden for giving up Ukraine.”
“Brian, I think if I call Nikki Haley naive, you’ll all be in a conspiracy, be honest about that,” Ramaswamy responded. “I actually understand what I mean here.”
Voicing his criticism of support for Ukraine on the debate stage, Ramaswamy called for “this neocon wisdom to be relegated to the dustbin of history where it belongs.”

“Well forget ‘neocon wisdom’. Nobody agrees with that,” Kilmeade admonished before adding wryly, “Leave Eastern Europe alone.”
“I think it’s foreign policy that doesn’t matter and I think the right answer is that we have to protect the American people,” Ramaswamy concluded.
Just before the interview with Ramaswamy, co-host Steve Doocy described the 38-year-old’s debate performance as “disgraceful.”
“He came in too hot again. He got booed a few times,” said Doocy, who awarded Ramaswamy a fourth-place finish in his personal debate standings “just because he was there.”
