The multi-millionaire got on Eminem’s bad side after performing the Hip-hop mogul’s music on the campaign trail.

Following the viral moment, the 8-time AMA winner sent a cease-and-desist letter to the presidential candidate’s team warning them to stop using his work. Here’s how the founder of Roivant Sciences responded to the icon’s message.

Vivek Ramaswamy Claims Eminem Has Lost A Fundamental Part Of Himself In Fiery Applause

The 38-year-old Republican recently addressed the legal warning he received from the “Venom” rapper in a candid interview with MSNBC. Although the lawmaker candidate said he would stop singing the record producer’s songs, he believes it stems from a bigger problem.

According to the Cincinnati native, the Shady Records co-founder was once someone who defied the “establishment” and spread the truth with his music. However, the father-of-two claimed that the cultural icon had lost his touch because he had problems with his performance of songs that were not authorized by Ramaswamy.

Referencing Eminem’s 2000 hit song “The Real Slim Shady,” the politician appeared to poke fun at the famous rapper, saying: “I’ll respect his wishes…But I’m just saying, will the real Slim Shady please stand up?”

The presidential candidate then explained, “Eminem, in his rise, has been a man who went against the establishment and said things the establishment didn’t want to say,” before slapping the 50-year-old for not having these traits any longer.

“I think the fact that my political views may be different from his — I think people change throughout their lives. But I hope for him that one day he will rediscover the renegade that made him great. And I am determined for that success in his life.”

Before slamming the 15-time Grammy winner in the interview, the “Capitalist Punishment” author had responded to a cease-and-desist letter on X. A fan shared a news report about Eminem’s legal warning, taking Ramaswamy’s side with the comment, “Eminem has turned so stupid he makes Vivek look cool.”

Inside Vivek Ramaswamy’s Drama With Hip-hop Icons

The cease-and-desist letter drama between the “Mockingbird” hitmaker and the business mogul began after Ramaswamy’s appearance at the Iowa State Fair. The Cincinnati native decided to drop some bars while speaking to the crowd alongside Iowa Republican Governor Kim Reynolds.

Ramaswamy performed Eminem’s 2022 hit “Lose Yourself” after citing the song as his favorite exit song. Unfortunately, the rapper did not appreciate the politician’s use of his music and slapped the father of two with a legal warning.

Eleven days after the presidential candidate showed off his rapping skills, his campaign attorney received a cease-and-desist letter. The written communication dated August 23 was sent by a representative for the music licensor, BMI, at the musician’s request.

The journalist stated that they had been tasked with ensuring that their client’s work was no longer used for Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign. Part of the message read: “BMI has received a communication from Marshall B. Mathers III, professionally known as Eminem, objecting to the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign’s use of Eminem’s musical compositions (‘Eminem Works’).”

A BMI employee stated the “Not Afraid” artist had requested “all Eminem Works” be removed “from the Agreement.” Additionally, the letter stated the written communication was notice of the 50-year-old musician’s immediate exclusion from the Republican presidential campaign.

The statement concluded with a warning: “BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date onwards as a serious breach of the Agreement in respect of which BMI reserves all rights and remedies.”

Following the cease-and-desist letter issued, a spokesperson for Ramaswamy’s campaign appeared to imply the 38-year-old was unfazed by the legal document. The rep stated: “Vivek just went on stage and let loose. To the dismay of the American people, we have to leave the rap to the real situation.”
