Waheeda Rehman was born on 3 February 1938 (age 85 years; in 2023) in the city of Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, India. His zodiac sign is Aquarius.
He attended school from the Monastery of St. Joseph in Vishakapatnam. She and her sister learned Bharatnatyam in Chennai from her Guru Trichunder Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai and Guru Jayalaxmi Alva, Doyen among the ‘Nattuvanars (people who train dancers and will also join dancers in performances to sing vocal rhythms, known as Sollukattu)’ in Mumbai.
He aspired to become a doctor, but due to his mother’s illness, he gave up on his dream.

Career
He made his acting debut with the Telugu film “Jayasimha” in 1955.
His Tamil debut as an actor was with the film “Kaalam Maari Pochu” in 1956.
He made his Hindi film debut with the film “CID” in 1956.
He made his breakthrough in Bollywood with the film “Guide (1965)” and became the most sought-after actor of the 1960s and 1970s.
He has acted with many famous actors like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and many more. The biggest hit of her career was Khamoshi (1970) opposite Rajesh Khanna.
From the mid-seventies, her career as the main heroine ended, and she began her career as a supporting actress. After her appearance in the film Lamhe (1990), she took a break from her acting career for 12 years. He made his comeback with the film “Om Jai Jagadish” in 2002.

- Dancing was her passion, and it was her dancing that set her background for acting. She featured as a dancer in the Telugu film ‘Rojulu Marayi (1955).’
- At the success party of “Rojulu Maraayi,” Guru Dutt notices Waheeda and decides to train her. Guru Dutt brought him to Mumbai and cast him as a ‘vamp’ in his production CID (1956).
- According to sources, Guru Dutt then signed Waheeda for three films on salary without any audition or look test.
- When he was about to make his acting debut in CID, the film’s director, Raj Khosla, asked him to change his name because he thought it was too long. Waheeda disagreed; saying that it was his parents, who gave him the name and that he liked it. Raj points out that everyone has changed their names, from Dilip Kumar (Yusuf Khan) to Nargis (Fatima Rashid) and Meena Kumari (Mahjabeen Bano) to Madhubala (Mumtaz Jahan); he further added that he was adamant. To this, Waheeda replied,
I am not everyone.”
- Some sources claim that Waheeda, before signing her first contract in Bollywood, insisted on including a clause that gave her the right to reject an outfit if she didn’t like it.
