In what many labeled as tasteless and rude, former ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer Kevin Brennan chose to mock “Friends” star Matthew Perry’s passing at X with a disparaging comment about his death in a jacuzzi.
Brennan responded to the article about Perry’s writing, “DROWNING IN A HOT TUB. HAHAHAHA.”
The comic drew criticism from some, slamming it for making a joke about someone’s death.
One comment read, “This man is in mourning because he made us all laugh. Something obviously no one will say the same for you when your time comes.”
Another tweeted, “You are a humble and pathetic human being. You may be jealous of him because you will never be jealous [as] beautiful like her. Karma.”
“Definitely a pathetic attempt to get attention here. I didn’t know you existed until today and I can see why. Going to forget you now.. my life will be better for him,” wrote a third person.

Despite coming under fire for mocking Perry, Brennan decided to double down with more sappy comments about the late actress.
Brennan wrote, “I’m not mocking him. I just thought it was funny. But I love it when junkies die.”
This led to a new onslaught of comments from Perry fans who were outraged by Brennan’s disrespectful remarks.
One person wrote, “Are you that desperate to try and stay relevant? Until the TMZ article no one knew who you were. Millions knew & loved without a doubt Matthew. His past didn’t change him, it made him stronger. He passed away with more class, & dignity than you expect.”
Another tweeted, “Does it get any lower than this? Someone uses someone else’s death to get noticed… to get attention maybe because they’ve been washed up? You got your attention, and no, we still don’t know who you are – and we don’t care to find out .”
One Perry fan said, “It’s not funny. He has family & friends who will miss him. How would you like someone to say something like this about your loved one who just died?”
“I see by how many replies you get to all your posts how popular you are. Considering your claim to fame is writing for SNL for 1 year tells me all I need to know. If you have a heart in your body, cruel is not funny and neither are you,” tweeted another.
