The only way out is through.
Harrowing point-of-view footage captures the moment a Washington state deputy narrowly escaped a deadly wildfire last month by driving straight “through hell on earth.”
The dramatic scene unfolded on August 18 when Spokane County Deputy Brittan Morgan had advised residents to evacuate the Oregon Road area as the inferno engulfed them.
He was trying to convince a stubborn man to jump into his patrol car when he realized he was running out of time to save himself.
In the chaos, Morgan neglected to turn off his body camera, offering a chance to see his determination to escape “a very fast and devastating fire,” the department said in a Facebook post Thursday that included the dramatic video.
“You can’t catch me today motherf–ker!” Morgan can be heard screaming as he desperately follows his colleague’s flashing lights through the thick smoke.
“Eat my hairy f–king a–, fire!”
Through the windshield of the patrol car, flames and sparks could be seen licking at Morgan’s speeding patrol car.

Bright yellow flames lit Morgan’s path as they burned bushes and crawled up trees along the heavily wooded road.
“I don’t want to die in this!” Morgan screamed in the censored video.
In a heart-wrenching moment, both Morgan and his partner stopped their car for unknown reasons before making the final push to the safety of the untouched forest.
“Holy, f–k, that’s f–king scary,” Morgan said.

The sheriff’s office acknowledged that Morgan didn’t know the cameras were still rolling, but wanted to share the deputies’ determination to escape the terrifying moment.
Although shaken by the near-death experience, the deputy immediately began directing people away from the inferno, which was still moving at a frightening pace.
He returned some people to safety — yelling at some of them who didn’t understand how serious the fire was.
“It’s right on our way, man, I’m just over there,” Morgan shouted to a man who insisted he could get through.
“Unless you want to die!”

Morgan’s aggressive tone immediately changed when he noticed another driver pull up next to his patrol car — the man who refused to get into the police vehicle before the deputy opened fire.
Morgan repeatedly expresses his gratitude that the stranger survived the apocalyptic hell.
“This is just another story of bravery and courage from the Oregon Road Fire,” the Spokane sheriff’s office said.
One person died in the fire, which destroyed at least 120 homes and several outbuildings as it tore through 10,817 acres, although officials expect the number to rise as they continue their assessment.
A second person died in another fire in the nearby town of Medicine Lake on the same day. The so-called Gray Fire burned about 10,085 acres and destroyed more than 200 homes.
