Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion seemed to have wowed the MTV VMA audience, with their most energetic and powerful performance yet, “Bongos.” This is the second collaboration between the two, the first being “WAP”, which was released in 2020. “WAP” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and while its culture-shocking video and lyrics have been nominated for four VMAs in 2021, it managed not to score a single victory.
Now, with “Bongos” just released on September 8, the duo plans to make another run at the top of the charts, whether they win any awards or not.

Cardi started the show, lowered onto the stage on a faint disco ball, even as she shook her curves to the beat. She wears her hair loose, in curls, like a 1970s version of Donna Summer. When she stepped onto the stage, she was accompanied by a shirtless male bongo player, and then a dancer in a neon green and blue two-piece bathing suit joined her as soon as the song hit. While the dancers were a stunning sight in coordination, Cardi B, dressed in a stunning blue gown, was par for the course as well.

Later, in the song, Megan then appeared on a separate stage, with another group of backup dancers giving it their all to move, while Meg did her signature twerking. After his verse, Cardi B joined him as they walked together to the main stage to complete the song together. Like Cardi, Megan also wears blue. But on the red carpet, she wore a black dress that showed off her curves perfectly.
