Members of the leftist “Squad” in Congress face challenges from well-funded pro-Israel Dems who want to oust them from power over their mixed views on the Jewish state.
District Attorney St. Louis Wesley Bell became the latest entrant into the field this week when he announced that he would scrap plans to challenge Missouri GOP Sen. Josh Hawley and instead aim his firepower at a primary with Rep. Cori Bush is the left.
“I think we need to stand with our allies, and Israel has always been an ally,” Bell said.
“As a country, we need to be a reliable partner. We must stand firm with our democratic country, and we must stand against terrorism,” he told Jewish Insider. “Hamas is a terrorist organization and I will not waver in my support for Israel.”
Last month Bush was one of nine House Democrats who voted against a move to condemn Hamas after the terrorist organization killed about 1,400 people in the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history.
In the last few days he has been cheating accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing.”

Fellow members of the Rep Squad. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) appears to be headed for a rematch with former Minneapolis city councilman Don Samuels, who told The Post he is weighing the race — citing Omar’s history of inflammatory anti-Israel remarks.
“He made an instantaneous response to a global event that required a thoughtful and coordinated response,” he said. “It is a disconnection from the issue of the district. The issues are public education, public safety, housing prices, affordable housing, and homelessness.”
Samuels challenged Omar in 2022 and nearly seized the Democratic nomination.

Rep. New York’s Jamaal Bowman — fresh off misdemeanor charges for pulling the fire alarm at the House Cannon office building — faces a potentially strong challenge from Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
“I was asked to do it by my significant other and my friend. They have expressed their displeasure with the incumbent on many different issues. Israel is obviously very high on that list,” Latimer told The Post. “I am a strong supporter of Israel.”
Even members of the Squad who do not face serious primary tests, such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), felt the heat.
On Thursday Democratic Majority for Israel, a nonprofit advocacy organization, launched a six-figure ad buy targeting him.

“His legislation will allow terrorists to rearm themselves,” the ad warns Detroit voters.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faces a spirited primary challenge in 2020 from former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera.
