The ex-husband of talk show host Wendy Williams, Kevin Hunter, is asking the court for help to collect the support check he was promised after their divorce.
In his petition, he claims that payments have been on hold for nearly two years, around the time the former TV host was placed under legal guardianship.
He also said that the Williams team did not come forward to help solve the issue and that the lack of funds had affected him a lot.

According to court documents, Williams’ ex-husband Hunter filed the lawsuit, asking for help in collecting support checks from the retired talk show host.
In a filing addressed to the judge overseeing their divorce, Hunter emphasized that she was married to Williams from November 1999 to January 2020 and that they share a son, Kevin Jr., who “is now emancipated and is a full-time student at Barry University. in Florida.”
Hunter emphasized in his petition that Williams agreed to provide him with “severance pay” under a “Marital Settlement Agreement.” He explained that he has not received it since January 2022 because of Williams’ court-ordered custody.
Stressing the financial strain caused by the lack of payment, Hunter said: “This is an urgent matter as I rely on severance pay for my living expenses, and being without this income for twenty-three months has taken a toll on me.”
“Therefore, I respectfully request that the Court require [Wendy] to immediately pay all severance fees that may be due and owing at the time of this Court Order,” he added, according to Sun.

Further in his petition, Hunter alleges that Williams violated a court order by withholding his severance pay, prompting him to seek his compliance in granting him part of his SAG-AFTRA retirement plan.
The TV producer claimed that despite trying to resolve the matter with Williams’ team since October 2021, Williams’ carer, Sabrina Morrisey, initially agreed to provide bank statements but later limited the disclosure.
Faced with uncooperative behavior, Hunter asserted that he had “no choice but to file this motion in this matter.”
“I do not need to file this motion if [Williams] not stopping my severance pay and if [she] will sign the Qualified Domestic Relations Order for the SAG-AFTRA Retirement Plan,” he added.

Williams and Hunter’s marriage came to a halt five years ago when the former talk show host filed for divorce.
At the time, both Williams and Hunter stated that their relationship should have ended sooner.
Hunter told Westside Gazette in December 2022: “Honestly, we should have divorced ten years earlier. Even our son, Kevin, said that to us.”
Later, Williams explained that despite incidents of infidelity throughout their marriage, it was Hunter’s relationship with entrepreneur Sharina Hudson and their “love child” that ultimately led to their split.

“Kevin has major negligence that he will have to deal with for the rest of his life. A cheating that I will not deal with,” he explained.
She emphasized her inability to forgive certain actions by her ex-husband, adding: “I never thought that I would be in this position. I am a very forgiving person, but there is one thing that I cannot be a part of, and that one thing happen.”

It has been nearly two years since Williams was placed under the care of a court-appointed legal guardian, as he was deemed vulnerable to financial exploitation due to his various cognitive and health problems.
The identity of her legal guardian was not made public at the time, but she was recently identified as Sabrina Morrisey. It came to light after the New York-based lawyer filed a lawsuit against Lifetime’s parent company, A&E Television Networks, seeking to stop production of the former TV host’s documentary.
Morrisey recently received backlash for allegedly starving Williams and restricting her access to her family.
He is reportedly the only one with unrestricted access to the former TV host. Willaims now resides in a private facility to deal with his cognitive problems after he suffered an episode in April last year.
