A wild video captures the moment a hapless arsonist accidentally set himself on fire while apparently trying to set fire to a politician’s office in the aptly named Argentinian city of Morón.
Surveillance footage shared on social media showed the hapless firebug rolling around on the burning ground, before taking off on the run.
The fiery incident occurred around 2:30 am local time on October 9 outside the office of Leandro Ugartemendia, a member of the PRO party who is running for mayor of Morón — a city of more than 92,000 people located in the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area.
CCTV cameras captured the arsonist dousing the front of the mayoral candidate’s office with flammable liquid and then setting it on fire.
But the clueless saboteur clearly didn’t expect his actions to create such a large fireball that it set him on fire.

After finally putting out the fire, the failed arsonist got up again and ran away. He has not been identified and is being sought by authorities.

Ugartemendia, the mayoral candidate whose office was targeted in the fiery attack, shared security camera footage on his X account, formerly Twitter, condemning the incident and demanding enhanced security measures.
“Recently, I committed to close the Office of Assistance to Criminals if elected Mayor Moron, and today our office in Aguero was burned,” wrote Ugartemendia. “I know this is the price of fighting criminals. They will not stop us.”
The Union for the Fatherland party, which opposes the PRO party in Morón, condemned the arson attack in a message on social media titled “No to Political Violence.”
