White House condemns red paint protesters left at gates — but goes online to label ripped-down posters ‘wrong’

WASHINGTON – White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre verbally condemned pro-Palestinian protesters on Tuesday for painting the gates of the executive mansion red – but could only fire a tweet at sick people caught on camera destroying posters showing people who kidnapped by Hamas terrorists.

“For the past month, the families of those who have been taken hostage live in agony,” Jean-Pierre tweeted immediately after deflecting various questions from the briefing room podium. “Tearing down pictures of their loved ones – held hostage by Hamas – is wrong and painful.”

Moments earlier, Jean-Pierre was quick to declare that President Biden “clearly” disapproved of pro-ceasefire protesters painting the White House door red on Saturday as thousands chanted “Genocide Joe!” and “F–k Joe Biden!” in protest of his support for Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip following Hamas’ October 7 attack on the Jewish state.

The removal of the “missing” posters was captured in numerous widely circulated videos shot in New York City and elsewhere that month following Hamas’ killing of at least 1,400 people and the abduction of more than 200 others from southern Israel.

Some of the aggressors have said on camera that they are tearing down the images because they are against Israel.

“Is it the White House’s view that this action should be condemned … or is it a form of peaceful protest?” NBC reporter Peter Alexander asked Jean-Pierre at the briefing.

“I kind of, kind of, saw reports here and there. I think it’s from last week, right?” Jean-Pierre initially swerved.

“There are about 30 million videos,” Alexander replied, pressing: “Is it a peaceful protest, to take it down or should you not do that?

Jean-Pierre responded, “I’m not going to get specific about that,” before moving on to express concerns about “violent protests and threats” as an administration concern.

“I would appreciate it if you would answer that question just to see if there’s a White House position on that, just to move on because it’s creating a lot of division in this country,” Alexander concluded.

“I’m happy,” the press secretary said, before tweeting her explanation moments later.

Biden was at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., Saturday as pro-Palestinian protesters flooded Pennsylvania Avenue, chanting “Genocide Joe must go!” and “Show your face!” — even at one point pushing against the White House door.

In addition to red handprints on the stone at the northwest door of the White House, the massive protest left pro-Palestinian graffiti on a nearby statue and hundreds of signs and stickers affixed to the White House fence.
