Kasean is a native of Chicago, Illinois who graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. Kasean was a two-year letterwinner at Ann Arbor, averaging 15 points and nine rebounds his senior year. He was also selected to the All-State Conference Red List and First Team All-Southeast. The forward was named to the Ann Arbor Area Dream Team second team after averaging 14 points and nine rebounds in his junior season. Kasean went on to play two seasons at Boise State after graduating from Ann Arbor.
