Next Level Chef is back for a new season of culinary challenges. The show’s second season will debut on Fox on Sunday, February 12 at 10:30pm ET. As in the previous season, the chefs have to perform for their mentors and try to impress them with their special dishes in the new season. The judges/mentors for this season are Richard Blais, Nyesha Arrington, and Gordon Ramsay.
April Clayton, a 39-year-old home cook, is one of 18 chefs vying for the $250,000 top prize and an apprenticeship with a mentor. He was born in Henderson, Tennessee, and currently resides in Muscle Shoals. Clayton is a member of the Nyesha Arrington team and owner of Southern Skillet Catering.
April Clayton, a Next Level Chef contestant, began her culinary adventure with lasagna.
Although nothing is known about April Clayton’s personal life, she has been open about her catering company. According to the website for Southern Skillet Catering, April enjoyed helping her grandmother in the kitchen as a child and began to see more of that in herself as she grew older and had children of her own.
According to Times Daily, in 2016, she donated lasagna to her children’s school for Teacher Appreciation Day. The lasagna was a huge success, prompting several other instructors to offer to pay him more if he could deliver it. April is motivated to go to the culinary center of Florence and create a cooking business from her own home. Soon after, he decided to take a job catering for wedding shows and hired a 900-square-foot shop on Second Street.
April’s husband also resigned from his position to help manage Southern Skillet Catering. Clayton has performed at nearly 200 weddings as of 2022. According to a news release, he enjoys serving customers who “started out as takeout customers.” The chef also said that he had some “trials and tribulations” in building his company.
Season 2 of Next Level Chef
Mentors Richard Blais, Nyesha Arrington, and Gordon Ramsay will judge the Next Level Chefs, and each will guide the six chefs in an effort to bring out the best in them. In each episode, the chefs have to perform in three separate kitchens, each with its own set of conditions and obstacles, while trying to create “next-level cooking.” The winner of the cooking competition will receive a $250,000 cash prize as well as a year’s mentorship with the judges.
Next Level Chef is described by Fox as follows:
“Next Level Chef” is the next evolution in cooking contests, as Ramsay has created a unique culinary case on the iconic stage like you’ve never seen before.
It also says:
“Each floor of the three-story building has a very diverse kitchen. The ingredients will complement the atmosphere, from the sparkling upstairs to the depths of the difficult basement, because Ramsay believes that the ultimate measure of a great chef is not just what they can achieve under the best conditions, but the kind of magic they can create under the worst!”
Next Level Chef airs every Thursday at 8pm ET on Fox. The season will begin on February 12th at 10:30 pm ET.
