Who is Ashley Biden? Joe Biden’s daughter who owes thousands in taxes

First daughter Ashley Biden was no stranger to scandal as she grew up with her father Joe’s political career, which saw him serve nearly five decades in the Senate and eventually become vice president and president of the United States.

The 42-year-old is now back in the news after it was revealed on December 18 that he owes $5,000 in income tax since 2015.

The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in the District of Philadelphia told the younger Biden that “the amount of unpaid taxes, interest, surcharges or penalties is a lien in favor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the property of the taxpayer – real, personal or both – as the case may be,” according to recent tax lien documents obtained by The Post.

Here’s what we know about Ashley Biden.

Early life

Ashley Biden is the only child of Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, and is the half-sister of Hunter Biden and the late Beau Biden.

He was born on June 8, 1981, and attended Wilmington Friends School, a private high school run by the Religious Society of Friends in Delaware.

Ashley Biden received a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2003, and went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice with a master’s degree in social work in 2010.

Originally, Ashley said she wanted to be a therapist — but instead she followed in her father’s footsteps and pursued public policy.

“The one thing my parents always told me was, ‘Follow your passion,'” Biden told Elle Magazine in March.

“There was never any pressure to serve, but I saw my mother – a teacher – and my father, who were working on the issues of the American people.”

Biden served as executive director of the Delaware Justice Center from 2014 to 2019, when he went to work on his father’s presidential campaign.

Marriage

Biden married Dr. Howard Kerin at a Catholic-Jewish interfaith wedding in 2012. The couple was set up by Beau Biden.

Kerin is an otolaryngologist and plastic surgeon at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Drug scandal

In 2009, a man claiming to be Ashley Biden’s “friend” tried to peddle a video he claimed showed her snorting cocaine at a house party, The Post exclusively reported at the time.

An attorney representing the unidentified man showed The Post about 90 seconds of the 43-minute tape, saying it was obtained legally and that Ashley was aware she was being recorded. The Post declined to pay for the video, which appears to show Biden taking a red straw from his mouth, bending over a table, inserting the straw into his nostrils and sniffing a line of white powder.

The dialogue was hard to make out, but the woman made repeated references to drugs, said lawyers, who said they viewed the tape about 15 times.

“At one point he complained that the line wasn’t big enough,” said one of the lawyers who showed the Post the video, but declined to be identified. “And he talked about his father.”

Subsequently, it was revealed that Biden had been arrested for possession of marijuana while at Tulane, but was never charged.

His diary was stolen

During Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign against Donald Trump, the contents of Ashley’s diary found its way into the hands of Project Veritas — the controversial conservative media outlet that became famous for conducting undercover operations against Democratic groups like Planned Parenthood and mainstream media organizations.

The website, then run by James O’Keefe, did not publish excerpts from Ashley Biden’s diary, but another conservative website posted dozens of handwritten pages from it on October 24, 2020, ahead of the presidential election, according to a New York Times report.

The release of the diary drew attention for a passage in which Ashley wrote about “taking a shower with my dad” as a young girl who “might not be right.”

Project Veritas obtained the diary from a whistleblower at another news organization that refused to publish information from it.

The outlet claims it knows where the real diary is and the whistleblower has an audio recording of Ashley admitting it is hers.

Last year, Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander pleaded guilty to stealing the diary.

As part of his plea deal, Kurlander agreed to cooperate with federal investigators who are investigating how Project Veritas bought the diaries, prosecutors said.
