Mike Utley is a former football player married to Dani Utley. Dani has worked as a firefighter, paramedic, EMT, aviation medic and deputy coroner, among others. The couple have been married for 22 years after meeting at a gym in Washington State. Although Mike uses a wheelchair, Dani initially overlooks him and thinks he is larger than life. They immediately clicked and have been together ever since. Mike Utley was born on December 20, 1965, in Seattle, Washington, and attended school at St. Paul Grade School, where he was recognized as the school’s most outstanding football player.
His academic career began in 1984 when he was awarded a scholarship at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. His coaching led the Cougars to their most successful season in decades in 1989. Utley was taken by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, his professional career was cut short on November 17, 1991, due to a major accident that resulted in a fractured cervical vertebra to -6th and 7th. In December 1991, he underwent surgery and began to recover.

Dani Utley, Mike’s other half, was born on February 8, 1968, and is now 55 years old. Dani had a varied career before meeting Mike. He served as a firefighter, paramedic, emergency medical technician, aviation medic and deputy coroner. They originally met at a gym in Washington State, where they both worked out. When Mike first laid eyes on Dani, he amusedly commented, “I just saw a pretty girl and thought I’d take my swing at the baseball plate, you know, batter swing, batter, batter, swing.”
Similarly, Dani said, “We started chatting. I was not aware of the wheelchair. He was just larger than life. Most likely it was love at first sight.” The couple had a deep and steadfast love for 22 years.
Marriage and Children
On July 14, Dani and Mike celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Mike’s bride, Dani, posted a photo of their wedding cake. Dani and Mike celebrate milestones every year, whether it’s someone’s birthday or an anniversary. Dani was asked how it feels to be married to Mike in an interview, and she said, “Mike makes me better every day; he always challenges me.”
Dani went on to say, “Marrying him helped me grow as a person.” When they’re together, you definitely notice their competitive nature. Mike always treated him like he was one of his friends. He quipped about marrying into the gene pool. “My 22-year relationship with Danielle has been incredible.” I don’t have any regrets. “I’ve grown and developed,” Mike said. Despite being married for twenty years, the couple had no children.
