Haven Madison, season 21 of American Idol, is the daughter of Jason Roy, lead singer of Building 429.
Haven Madison is a teenager from Clarksville, Tennessee. He was selected as America’s Platinum ticket at the prestigious American Music Awards at an early age. Haven is the daughter of Jason Roy of the Grammy-nominated contemporary Christian group, Building 429.
Haven grew up in a tour van, according to his Spotify profile. His father, who was often on the road, took his family with him, so he was homeschooled until a certain age. Haven discovered his love for music while on tour with his father. He has previously released some of his own songs, such as his EP All the Things I Didn’t Say, which was a duet with his own brother. Haven spoke in an exclusive interview with Clarksville Now about her first show and how her father encouraged her to do so:
“’Go over there and sing with him!’ he insisted. Absolutely not, I said. ‘I’ll give you $20 if you go there!’ he offered. And he did! ‘I’ll give you $40 if you go out there and sing like you’re back here,’ he added.”
He recounted his most memorable performance when he opened for Hill Fest:
“‘Haven Madison: The Opening,’ he said. It was surreal to see my name on a shirt; someone asked me to sign everything, and they wanted to take a picture with me. ‘What is this world?’ I wondered. And there was the first moment I thought, This is my brand.”
She revealed the following about her American Idol audition:
“I walked in thinking, ‘Man, I’m probably going to get up here, perform my song, Thanks for coming, now get out.’ I was still convinced that this was a fraud until I stood in front of three judges.”
