The Cut On His Face That Almost Ended His Career
Figure skating, although it looks beautiful, is a very dangerous sport. Dube was sliced in the face by his partner’s Davidson roller skates on February 8, 2007. The incident happened while the couple were playing side-by-side flying camels. Both skaters must rotate side to side on one leg while the other leg is extended. This happens when the razor-sharp blade, which is only an eighth of an inch wide, spins at a mind-boggling 60 miles per hour. Davison stepped too close on the third revolution of the flying camel, and his skate sliced Dube just below the left eye.
It was horrible to see the left half of his face cut from the nose almost to the ear. The skater had about 83 stitches to keep his face together. He, however, returned to skating after only 10 days. He had a terrible scar on his face from that time, but he refused to be ashamed of it.
