Josh Wilder is one of 18 castaways competing for a $1 million prize money and the title of “Single Survivor.” The 34-year-old Surgical Podiatrist from Atlanta, Georgia, wanted to join the program to test his mettle. In conversation with Parade, he discussed the upcoming season’s performance and opened up about having a genetic disability as a child. He also stated that his organs were not fully functioning due to the state of Prune’s intestines, and he shared:
“Kristen Reagle, a transplant donor, donated a kidney to me when I was nine years old. He was killed by a drunk driver when he was 15; as if his existence had never begun.”
The Survivor season 44 contestant stated that her donor was an active and outdoorsy person, so she did this for him as well as her own family. Josh started watching the program when it first aired in May 2000, and he would watch it with his family every Thursday. He mentioned that he has seen almost every season of the CBS program, except for a few that he had to miss because of medical school and college. He connects with a winner, Jeremy, and a non-winner, Davie, because Davie is a great social entertainer and performs admirably during the task.
In an interview, the actor of the upcoming season of the survival program stated that he wants to be seen as active while on the show, as well as someone who provides for his friends. To get to the finish line, Josh wants to be more sociable and accepting of his fellow competitors, but once there, “everything is gone.” He went on to say:
“I’m going to backstab, cheat, and do what I have to do to get there. But first, I will play a very friendly, active, and giving game. And then, God willing, when we merge, I will do what I have to do. All bets are off the table.”
The Survivor season 44 contestant stated that she will not let her feelings rule her and will not allow others to play with her emotions. Josh states that he’s seen it on the show before, with people playing on feelings and pulling them to use them against each other, and he plans to prevent that from happening to him.
Furthermore, the candidate believes that he must keep his eye on his reward and not let others get restless, as Jonathan did with Maryanne. The season debut of Survivor season 44 will air on CBS on Wednesday, March 1 at 8pm ET.
