Season 44 of Survivor will debut this week, with a new batch of contestants competing for big rewards and the title of “Single Survivor.” Matthew Blankinship, a Google software developer from California, is one of the candidates scheduled to fight in the upcoming season. The future cast member of Survivor season 44 is 27 years old, originally from Albany, and currently resides in San Francisco, California. The competitor graduated from Oberlin College in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He also worked as a school tour leader while in college. Matthew considers himself cheerful, loving, and resilient.
He started as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Lab126 for a year and a half before moving on to his current position as a software developer at Google. According to Matthew, he used to tell everyone who would listen that he was going to join the program one day ten years ago. Although he was afraid to apply before, he is now eager to finish this unfinished business and is very enthusiastic about it. In an interview with Parade, Matthew explained that being on the show was like an emotional battle for him because he wanted to prove to himself that he could do “this very difficult game.” He went on to say:
“I believe that as a child, I was more afraid to take chances and be judged by others. And I believe I have matured significantly. However, this will be the last measure of my pain tolerance.”
According to the Survivor season 44 survivor, he was introduced to the show by a woman he had a crush on in high school. His friends thought the program was great and urged them to watch it. Matthew has watched the program every day since then, and being on the show has always been his goal. Yul is one of the winners he is very close to, and he believes it is “incredible” to see a half-Asian man doing so well on the program. He went on to say that Yul encouraged him to join the program because he was one of those people he saw on TV and felt like.
The season 44 survivor went on to explain that she had to learn the hard way that things don’t always work out the first time, saying:
“It’s hard to invest yourself in something. I’ve auditioned for band, applied to schools and applied for jobs, all of which require a lot of yourself and a lot of confidence in how your life will turn out. You waver because they reject you.”
