Sam and Meghan are the happy parents of three daughters: Reese, Rylee, and Reagan. The Bulldogs defeated the reigning national champion, LSU ranked No. 9, 77-73, with solid performances on both ends of the floor. The historic event took place in front of a packed Humphrey Coliseum, which housed 9,121 Maroon and White faithful, marking the first home sellout during the Sam Purcell era. Reflecting on the overwhelming support, Purcell admitted his surprise upon arriving at the coliseum, saying,
“I looked up at Bonggol and saw that the queue was ready, and I was surprised. I was like, “This is what I’ve been dreaming of.”
Mississippi State does not disappoint its fans, who have shown great dedication to them. The win marked LSU’s first losing streak since the 2021-22 season, after losing to No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday. As a result, the Tigers’ record fell to 18-4 (5-3 SEC), while Mississippi State improved to 17-5 (4-3). Purcell summed up the significance of the ceremony, saying, “It’s everything you’ve dreamed of. “You live for these moments.”
