Jeff Passan has been married to Sara Rieke since 2007 and they have two children. Sara, his wife, is a trained nurse who also serves as a supportive wife and mother. Jeff Passan is an ESPN baseball reporter and author of The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of Sports’ Most Valuable Commodity. Passan attended Syracuse University after graduating from Solon High School. He wrote for The Daily Orange while at Syracuse and eventually began covering Fresco State basketball. Before joining Yahoo, he began covering baseball for The Kansas City Star in 2004.
After 13 years at Yahoo!, he joined the ESPN Baseball team in January 2019 and has been on Sports Center and The Rich Eisen Show, among other shows. Jeff Passan Suffers Back Injury
The ESPN MLB pundit claimed on Twitter that he broke his back in a yard work accident on July 17, 2023. He said the injury occurred when a large tree branch fell on him while he was cleaning up after a major storm in Kansas City.
“The good news is that I still use my Twitter arms, legs and fingers,” Passan added. “The bad news is that I’ve broken my spine.”
Fortunately, even in recovery, Passan will have the tools he needs to carry out his reporting duties. In addition, he thanked his family, friends, and everyone at ESPN for their support, as well as the care and attention of the medical staff at KU Med. He also mockingly tweeted an image of a broken tree on his Twitter feed the day after the injury.
