The festive event was completed after fellow contestant Monte Taylor chose to take Hale with him to the top two positions, following his final victory in the Head of Household competition. According to Yahoo!, the West Bloomfield native stepped forward to make his final appeal to jurors, stating:
“I’ve overcome so much in this game, and I’ve come to understand that I’m not a shield. I am a sword. I am not a victim. I am a winner. If there is one word that will describe the entire season, it is resilience. If you ask yourself who is the most resilient person this season, it’s me.”
Hale continued by challenging the judges to choose the type of winner they want to have in 2022 and firmly singled out resilience and tenacity as the measuring stick before adding, “I never give up on myself, and I refuse to do that tonight when I sitting next to such a strong competitor.”
The winner of the latest show challenges them to “make tough decisions and change the course of the game and choose progress for the course of the game.” He concluded by vowing not to waste their votes if they chose him as the show’s champion.
In addition to being the first black woman to be crowned “Big Brother” champion, it’s also the first time in the history of the reality series that the game’s champion has also won “America’s Favorite Houseguest,” earning an astounding $800,000 in cash prizes.
The 27-year-old was also named “Miss Congeniality 2021” at Miss USA and is a personal stylist, according to an observation from Hollywood Life. The outlet further stated that the 27-year-old described himself as a “very optimistic” individual during a pre-game interview.
Hale said that while he doesn’t profess to be a “picky person,” he is “very perceptive” — a trait that usually prevents people from “keeping it up long term in the game.”
