Who Is Tineke Younger From “Next Level Chef”?

Next Level Chef returns to FOX on Sunday, February 12, with a new season featuring 18 candidates. Tineke Younger, one of the contestants, started her career in cooking during her sophomore year in high school. The 21-year-old is a social media/TikTok chef competing for the $250,000 grand prize.

Gordon Ramsey, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blais will serve as mentor chefs for Chefs Next Level 2023. According to the concept of the program, each mentor will take six competitors under their wing. Tineke is a member of Richard’s squad.

Tineke tells how she became interested in cooking.

Tineke Younger was born in Frederick, Maryland, and currently resides in Evans, Georgia. His first encounter with the culinary profession occurred during his sophomore year when he attended the Frederick County Public Schools Career and Technology Center. Tineke was dealing with bad grades at the time and was looking for encouragement to keep her motivated. Her visit to the center to find a beauty school, however, didn’t give her the push she needed until she smelled food.

In an interview with The Frederick News-Post, the young chef stated:

“I despise him completely. ‘This isn’t for me,’ I thought, and on my way out, I smelled food in the hallway.”

He inquired about the culinary program and later returned to the same institution to pursue his new passion. Tineke elaborates:

“Everything is different. I have received Ds and Fs. I also got a D in PE. I’m not trying. I am not interested in school. My grades improved after I discovered that I was really good at cooking and it was something I loved to do.”

He went on to say:

“Because I’m not the greatest child, my behavior has also improved. I got in trouble and was taken to the principal’s office. But my behavior changed for the better when I found my passion.”

Tineke chose to modify her TikTok profile in 2021 while pursuing culinary training at Frederick Community College Monroe Center: Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute and working in a restaurant.

He states:

“I thought it was just fun, so I recorded it and put it out [on TikTok] next day. There are 14 million views, and I have 300,000 followers. It went viral on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. It really doesn’t make sense. Celebrities call me.”
