Singer Britney Spears and actor Sam Asghari have yet to officially end their marriage even though the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor filed for divorce last August.
The former couple met on the set of the “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and started dating soon after. He popped the question in September 2021, two months before his controversial conservatorship ended in November 2021. They tied the knot less than a year later, in June 2022.
However, according to court documents obtained by The Blast, the 29-year-old actress filed for divorce from the 42-year-old pop star in August 2023, but listed July 2023 as the official separation date, months before her memoir “The Woman In Me” was released on last October.

While Britney Spears continued to travel the world, Sam Asghari began his acting career. On January 8, she posed on the red carpet for Young Hollywood and Breakout Stars of 2023 in Los Angeles. A few days later, she shared a photo of herself posing with “Fight Club” actor Brad Pitt at a Beverly Hills gallery show.
Sources told US Sun earlier this month that Sam is still using Britney’s name to score invitations to major Hollywood events. “He felt Sam was playing ‘Mr. Britney Spears’ card for everything and she finds it kind of sad,” a source told Us Weekly. The source went on to say that although the two had signed a prenuptial agreement before the divorce, the marriage was not officially over because Sam wanted more money.
“Sam feels he should be properly compensated for everything he went through with Britney,” a source told the outlet. “The exact amount she wants to keep secret, but she’s not happy with what Britney and her team are proposing.”
A second source went on to claim that “Sam will do everything under the sun.” However, The Blast investigated the matter and found that Sam did not file anything officially to ask for more money or to contest the prenup. Therefore, it seems that most divorces happen behind closed doors between the respective lawyers.

Last year, a source told the magazine that Sam would get a million dollars for each of the two years of marriage while giving up the rights to his music catalog, per the prenuptial agreement. The marriage also required him to sign an NDA. Keep in mind that Britney has a net worth of $60 million, although she recently revealed that she has no plans to return to the entertainment industry.
An insider told the publication that a possible settlement between the former couple is “stuck in limbo,” adding, “There’s been a lot of bickering here and there. Things have gotten more complicated than either of them expected.”
While Britney reportedly coughed up ten thousand dollars a month to pay for her luxury apartment in Los Angeles, a source told Us Weekly that’s no longer the case and Sam pays his own rent.
“Britney is in no mood to be turned down or rush to sign another big check to Sam,” the source claims. “He wants to stick to the letter of the paperwork and feels that’s all he’s entitled to, period.”

“Britney is still very angry about how much money certain family members have managed to get away with over the years,” the insider said, noting that Britney reportedly paid the former backup dancer $1.3 million dollars during their 2007 divorce.

“They’ve exchanged pleasantries, but generally they’re not talking,” the source claimed. “It’s difficult with this unresolved situation, plus they’re both keen to put the marriage behind them and move on with their lives.”
