On February 1, 42-year-old Jessica Simpson took to Instagram with a question for her fans, asking, “Want to hear a little wild story?”
No fan would say no to that, and Simpson continued after the rhetorical question. “Well, I found some words locked in a secret journal, which I never thought I would open again. Through the process of filming the pilot for Open Book, I reminisced about my experiences in the mid-2000s…”
The mother of three delves into her past, when she was in her mid-20s and kissed a frog to find her son. Simpson continued, “my mid-20s after a divorce and all the frogs on the dream list to be kissed in hopes of finding a prince. Only my close and loyal friends have heard this story which I share with anyone who needs an earful of self-esteem-bound good girlfriend narration, Movie Stars – they always say they’re single is out today on Amazon Original Stories. Fantasy-turned-reality romance goes to the side, to say the least.”

In her essay, Simpson reviews a chapter in her life, when she was involved in an intimate but secret relationship with an A-list movie star. At the time, she and Nick Lachey were on break and she met the megastar at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. In a short essay, Simpson wrote, “This megastar, who I grew up thinking was so hot, looked me up and down. Like he undressed me with his eyes.”
At that time, sparks may have flown, but nothing happened. Later, the two run to the gym again, in LA and he offers to work with her for an undisclosed music video. Although the star makes “millions and millions per movie,” he offers her, “You can be my leading man.”
The star had reached out to Simpson but at the time, she and Lachey were back together. Soon, Simpson married Lachey but when the marriage broke up, the affair began. In her essay, Simpson wrote that she and the movie star kissed at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and everything felt perfect, “I felt this warm feeling all over my body to the tip of my toes in my wedges.”
But after the miracle ended, he saw pictures of him with other women on the red carpet. Her mystery man assured her that he only wanted her, telling Simpson, “You’re the only girl I want to be with. You.”

When these men sneak into his hotel room through the fire escape and then get upset that they didn’t jump into bed right away, Simpson is upset. She wrote, “Yes, there is something sexy and attractive about all of this, but there is also something degrading. I feel like a call girl.”
She also wrote, “I don’t care if she is my teenage fantasy come true, this is not a choice that the same girl, my younger daughter, would be proud of.” The relationship ended when Jessica left the next day while the actor was on set, and later, he called her “crying.”
Everyone on Instagram wanted to know who the guy was, and there were a lot of names being thrown around. Last we counted, they were: Jared Leto, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper, and even Tom Cruise. But the only name mentioned repeatedly is Marky Mark, as in Mark Wahlberg!
