‘Will & Grace’ Star Eric McCormack’s Wife Files For Divorce After 26 Years Of Marriage

‘Will & Grace’ star Eric McCormack’s wife, Janet Holden, has filed for divorce from the actor after nearly three decades together.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Holden filed for dissolution of their marriage in California Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

In the filing, Holden is seeking spousal support from the “Will & Grace” star. The couple has been married since August 3, 1997, with Holden listing the date of their separation as “to be determined.” Separated couples do not have minor children so there will be no child custody issues. The couple have a son Finnigan.

However, Holden, who also has several film credits to his name, wants a partner’s support. He wants McCormack to pay spousal support but is asking that the court’s ability to award support to the “Alien Trespass” star be ended. In other words, he doesn’t want to pay anything.

Holden also asked her estranged husband to cover attorney fees and costs.

It is uncertain whether McCormack and Holden had a prenuptial agreement but he asked the court to “Determine rights to community and quasi-community assets and debts” and to confirm their separate property and assets.

As you know, the couple has been married for a very long time, so most likely they will divide everything in the middle.

They soon fell in love but kept their romance a secret for the time being as they kept their relationship a secret. “There’s a bit of mystery and danger, which is fun,” Holden once said in an interview. He also said of their affair in a 2007 essay for the Guardian, “At first he wasn’t too keen. He knew acting was a lot of work: it was like taking your work home with you. But I managed to convince him.”

A year later, they let the cat out of the bag and showed up at the show’s wrap party. However, their romance hit the first hurdle when McCormack moved to LA while he remained in Canada. Nevertheless, their love endured and in August 1997, they walked down the aisle.

The 60-year-old credits Holden for holding him back and preventing him from partying hard during his “Will & Grace” days. “I think I was very lucky because I was not known until my early thirties. If it had been when I was younger, you might have seen me fall off a nightclub. I think I run myself as a better person because I was already married when it all happened.”

McCormack has not commented on the divorce, nor have the former couple discussed the split on social media.
