Will Smith Celebrates Martin Lawrence’s 58th Birthday With The Sweetest Throwback Compilation
Smith and Lawrence have featured in a bromance since they first connected in the ’90s for the first installment of the “Bad Boys” franchise. Although some of the compilation is old, Smith made sure their love for each other was evident in the clip he shared with his nearly 63 million followers on Sunday.
The reel begins with a selfie-mode video showing the movie star complaining about how cold the weather is, with Lawrence yelling, “Sh******t!” Moments later, viewers saw the “Emancipation” actress running after her friend to tell her, “You’re not short; you’re petite.”
The friends shared more than one inside joke and had several laugh-out-loud moments, including one that saw the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star sing out loud, “Marty Mar lights up my life.”
After reiterating that they were “bad boys for life,” Smith ultimately decided not to include more happy moments between her and the comedian, explaining that her fans “couldn’t handle it anymore.”
As expected, fans can’t stop appreciating the good vibes in “Happy B-Day Marty Mar!!” post captions. While one person called it the “best birthday post” they’ve seen in a while, another called it “the best post ever.”
A third fan claimed that Smith and Lawrence’s chemistry was “hypnotic,” and a fourth typed, “a friendship we all need in our lives.” A fifth Instagram user commented, “You two are just a perfect laughing couple. Love you all.”
Lovers of the “Big Momma’s House” star and the “Men in Black” actor have remained in high spirits since news broke that the two were most recently spotted on the set of the highly-anticipated “Bad Boys 4.”
Per PEOPLELawrence – who plays Marcus Burnett – was seen arriving on set in a pink tracksuit and matching sneakers, and her friend – who played Mike Lowrey – was seen stepping out of his trailer in his character’s costume.

The famous friends announced the return of the much-loved franchise in a joint video statement shared in January. The clip begins with the “Bel-Air” executive producer filming himself as he drives to Lawrence’s house, playing “Shake Ya Tailfeather” — the song Diddy, Nelly, and Murphy Lee recorded as the “Bad Boys II” soundtrack.
Arriving at the home of the “Martin” alum, Smith and Lawrence shook hands with each other and further confirmed the production of the action comedy project. The announcement, which was uploaded to Instagram, was captioned, “AROUND THAT TIME!”
The Blast observed that the news was widely received by fans and celebrities alike, with Charlie Mack — real name Charles E. Alston, commenting, “What are we going to do, when the four of us come!!!!! Please put me on as a trainer for the Last Hoorah!!!!!! #BB4Life.”
Even Nick Cannon suggested that they should name the upcoming movie “BAD BOYS 4 EVER!!!” and one fan expressed readiness for “Bad Boy, whatever the amount.”
As if that news wasn’t enough, it’s been reported that Vanessa Hudgens will reprise her role as a weapons expert in a Hollywood film. The “High School Musical” cast first appeared in the franchise three years ago in “Bad Boys for Life.”
The installment enjoyed tremendous success at the Box Office in 2020, explaining why the production wanted him back. Fortunately, other familiar names, including writer Chris Bremner, will also return to the lineup.
In the director’s chair are Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, who conduct the third round. Other notable crew members are Smith for Westbrook, Doug Belgrad, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Chad Oman — who will be reproducing.
Lawrence is also said to be executive producing the fourth film alongside James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone.
