“Bad Boys” are back in action!

More than two decades after the first “Bad Boys” project was released, it has been confirmed that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will reunite for the fourth part of the film series. To date, the franchise has brought in $840.7 million at the global box office, with its third installment, “Bad Boys for Life,” accounting for more than $426 million of the haul. The film directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah generated $73 million domestically in its first four days of release.

Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Interested In Latest “Bad Boys” Franchise Installment

Smith and Lawrence shared their excitement for the upcoming film in an Instagram video with the caption, “NO TIME!” The clip opens with Smith jumping into his car to drive to his co-star’s house, effectively hitting himself in the face with his camera as he tells viewers to “better stop scrolling.”

The four-time Grammy Award winner then played the opening lines of “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” — performed by Nelly, Diddy, and Murphy Lee for the “Bad Boys II” soundtrack.

“I wish I was you, don’t know what I’m gonna show me,” Smith added after cutting the song. Upon arriving at Lawrence’s doorstep, the co-stars excitedly hugged each other before quickly declaring that the fourth installment was officially on its way.

“About that time!” Lawrence shrieks as her friend shouts, “Bad boy for life, baby,” prompting a hilarious admission that they wasted the “lifetime” pun in the third film’s title.

“We’re READY for Bad Boy no matter the amount,” one fan wrote as DJ Jazzy Jeff quipped, “Wowowowowowowowow.” DJ Khaled yelled, “Let’s go!!!!!,’ and Charlie Mack commented, “What are we going to do, when we come 4 them!!!!! Put me on as a trainer for the Last Hoorah!!!!!! #BB4Life.” Nick Cannon also stepped into the comments section with a suggestion to “Call BAD BOYS 4 EVER!!!”

“’Emancipation’ sucks, but THIS is the comeback I’ve been waiting for you! #BigWill #MartyMar,” one fan wrote, prompting Smith to respond, “A great man once said, “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years!”

While one called for an appearance by Gabrielle Union, another suggested that the film should feature Chris Rock, jokingly referencing last year’s infamous Oscar fiasco when Smith slapped the comedian on stage.

News of a fourth “Bad Boys” film has been confirmed by Sony Pictures, which details that the as-yet-untitled sequel is already in pre-production with El Arbi and Fallah returning as directors.

Chris Bremner has handled the completion of the script with Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith for Westbrook, Chad Oman, and Doug Belgrad back in their producer’s chairs. Meanwhile, Lawrence, Barry Waldman, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, and Jon Mone will executive produce the project.

The Hollywood Heavyweights Have a Strong Bond

Following the announcement of “Bad Boys For Life,” Nicki Swift delves into the off-screen relationship between Lawrence and Smith, highlighting how highly they speak to each other during interviews.

During a 2020 conversation, Lawrence admitted, “[We have a] really respect and love each other,” with Smith interjecting, “We just understand each other. We know how to support each other. When you just understand each other, it’s like such a profound gift to not have to explain what you need.”

Although Putera Segar and the “Martin” star have not worked on any project since 2003, their bond remains intact thanks to maintaining communication with each other over the years. After declaring her love for the 54-year-old, Lawrence revealed that their constant check-ins made their reunion for the third film even more special.

For “Welcome Home” actor Roscoe Jenkins, it “feels good” to see his friend every time he looks across the room. The two enjoy doing things together, including pranking each other “between takes”. Recalling their first meeting, Lawrence stated:

“We talked for a while, and it felt natural. We made each other laugh.”

The moment was so compelling that Lawrence chose Smith to star in the first “Bad Boys” film, beginning a friendship that would go beyond the big screen.
