Will Smith plays The Genie in Disney’s live-action “Aladdin,” a role previously voiced by the iconic Robin Williams in the 1992 animated film.
After the Oscar blow, no one knew where Smith’s career would turn, however, it seems that Disney forgave the actor because Sun reports that not only will Smith return as The Genie for the live-action sequel, but he will reportedly have a bigger role than he did in the first film.
“This will be one of Will’s first films since the Oscar blow and it’s a bit of a surprise, considering it’s going to be a children’s film,” a film insider told the paper. “He’s done a lot of work on himself and the consensus is that it will all be in the past when the movie comes out.”
The insider added, “The first movie was a huge success so it would be silly not to do another one, and it would be a real shame to send Will back for what happened.”
“So Disney is keen to stand by him and bring him back into the fold,” the insider concluded.
Will Smith Apologizes To Chris Rock

Movie fans around the world watched in shock as actor Will Smith stormed the stage after comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pickett Smith’s short haircut. Smith slapped Rock in the face, then turned and sat back down at his desk in front of the audience before yelling abuse at him.
Not long after, Smith won Best Actor for his starring role in the film “King Richard,” but days after the Oscar, the actor resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which also banned him from its events for 10 years.
“Chris, I’m sorry for you. My behavior is unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk,” Smith said in a YouTube video months later. “No part of me thought that was the right way to behave at the time. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to deal with feelings of disrespect or humiliation.”
Many also brought up Smith’s wife in the conversation, saying Jada Pickett Smith influenced him to stand up for him. However, the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor put the rumors to rest, saying, “I made my own choices, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry, honey.”
At the time of the video, Will Smith said he called Chris Rock to apologize directly but was told the comedian wasn’t ready to talk to him about the incident.
