You may remember that their relationship came to a screeching halt at the 2022 Academy Awards. Rock told a “GI Jane” joke at Jada Pinkett Smith’s expense and after realizing she wasn’t paying attention, Smith threw Rock on stage and slapped him in the face.

Smith kept yelling “keep my wife’s name yo f**king MOUTH” at Rock.

Smith was banned from attending the Academy Awards for ten years following his despicable actions.

Ling believes the Academy Award winner has a greater sense of humility and is on the way to becoming a “better person.”

Will Smith Is On His Journey To Becoming A “Better Person”

“People make mistakes. The mistakes he made were not good. It needs to be recognized and changed,” said Ling in a report from US Sun. “We all fall, but it’s time to get up. We think again and become more enlightened. When he comes back, he will be a better person. He will have more power in humility and influencing people. We need to forgive – we all make mistakes.”

Since their fallout eight months ago, Rock has refused to accept Smith’s apology, but Ling has hopes for reconciliation.

“I think eventually, Chris and Will will be good friends. It will take some time. Remember my words. They will be,” she said. “Will has a very pure heart and he’s really worked hard to take his craft seriously and apologize sincerely. I guarantee he feels terrible. I think they’ll both understand each other.”

In July, Smith broke his silence about the famous televised moment.

He took to Instagram and shared a video lasting over five minutes to answer questions about the viral incident.

“It’s been a minute… Over the past few months, I’ve been doing a lot of personal thinking and work…” a message on the screen began. “You ask a lot of fair questions that I want to take some time to answer.”

Chris Rock Refused to Accept Will’s Apology

“Why didn’t you apologize to Chris in your acceptance speech?” is the first question. Smith said he was “a blur at that point” and said his memory is “fuzzy.”

Smith said that he has reached out to Chris, but he is not available to talk at this time. The actress said that Rock would call her when she was ready to talk.

Smith spoke to Rock directly in the video, saying, “I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here when you’re ready to talk.”

He also apologized to Chris’ mother, saying that she saw the interview he did. Smith said that he did not realize, and did not think, about how many people were injured “at the time.” He also apologized to Chris’ family, especially his brother, Tony Rock. “We have a good relationship,” Smith said, noting that “this is probably irreparable” after the blow.
