Window washer falls to his death outside Boston skyscraper

A window cleaner and father of two fell several stories to his death outside a Boston office building on Monday, police said.

Nicholas Marks, 40, of East Weymouth, fell to his death while working at 100 Summer Street shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, Boston 25 News reported.

He fell “an unknown number of stories” outside the 32-story Financial District building, police told the outlet.

“I’ve known him for 18 years,” Gerardo Ortiz, a fellow window washer and fellow victim, said of Marks.

“We wake up every morning to go to work and we don’t know what’s going to happen that day,” he added.

“[He had] two beautiful children and he will be greatly missed,” another colleague, who declined to give their name, told Boston 25.

“Great people… great people. That all. That’s all I want to say.”

Following the tragic fall, 100 Summer Street was surrounded by yellow police tape, as well as law enforcement cruisers and investigators surrounding the scene, the outlet said.

Shoes, broken plastic safety gear, and a Bosun Marks chair were reportedly found not far from his body.

According to Ortiz – who works for a different company than the victim – window washers usually rely on multiple safety lines so, if one fails, they can hold on until help arrives.

“You follow all the safety procedures and nothing will happen,” he explained.

“You never know what can happen. Equipment failed. It was very heavy on the rope.”

Marks may have been employed by Sky Safety, Inc., and a window cleaning firm located outside of Boston, Boston 25 News reported.

The company did not immediately respond to The Post’s inquiries.

There have been 11 fatal window washer incidents in Boston in the past five years, Boston 25 added — including the death of a window washer at the JFK Library last year.

“My condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Marks at this tragic time,” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said of Marks’ death.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has reportedly been notified of the incident.
