A drugged-up plane passenger tried to open an emergency door as the flight soared over the Pacific Ocean on Thursday, according to local reports.
The 26-year-old woman was detained by the Incheon International Airport Police Corps after trying to push through the gate of a Korean Air flight en route to Incheon, a South Korean city bordering Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The plane was nearing the end of a 15-hour flight from New York that had departed at 2 a.m. the previous day.
Witnesses told police he began showing signs of distress about 10 hours into the flight and tried to rip open the door several times before he was finally restrained by a flight attendant.
He later tested positive for drugs, airport officials told Korea JoongAng Daily.
Police said the woman had entered the country after living in New York for more than six months, and had no record of mental illness.
It was the third instance of passengers trying to open an emergency door on a Korean flight this year, including a drugged 19-year-old who was sentenced to three years in prison.

It also comes a month after an off-duty pilot in Oregon allegedly tried to bring down a maximum-capacity plane while suffering a days-long mental breakdown caused by a trip to a magic mushroom.
Joseph Emerson – who faces charges of attempted murder for each of the 83 lives on board – claimed he thought he would snap out of his drug-induced trance if he crashed into the overcrowded plane.
