The body of a woman believed to be in her 30s was found stuffed in an underground garbage compactor at a tony Chelsea condo complex Friday afternoon, police and law enforcement sources said.
The gruesome discovery was made at 2:40 p.m. in the basement of +Art at 540 W. 28th St., an upscale Manhattan development where two-bedroom units recently fetched more than $2 million.
The woman was found with injuries to her head and body, sources said.
Residents of the building, located half a block from The High Line on a street lined with luxury apartments, were shocked by the alarming news.
