On Tuesday afternoon, Wynonna took to Instagram to pay tribute to her dear friend by sharing two photos of the two of them laughing together.
“When people ask me what my favorite movie is, ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ is my number one,” Wynonna wrote. “Loretta has always been my favorite, ever since I can remember. As a young girl, I learned about Loretta from listening to the Grand Ole Opry. I met him when I was only 20 years old.”
“When I walked into CMA for the first time in 1984, he was the first person to come and hug me,” he explained. “Loretta is like an aunt to me. I would call him and he would tell me a story. Some of my fondest memories of Loretta come from her telling me all about her life at Butcher Holler.

“During one of my recent visits to Hurricane Mills, she gave me a Bible and a crochet hook that her Mama made,” she added. “I will cherish that gift forever.”

“It’s really hard for me to understand life without him.
