Xóchitl Gómez’s Painful Injury During ‘DWTS’ Rehearsal Leaves Fans Cringing

Marvel star Xóchitl Gómez suffered a painful ankle sprain during ‘Dancing With the Stars’ rehearsals, and the incident was caught on camera.

The 17-year-old has been a front runner on the ABC reality competition show, as she and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, have topped the leaderboards almost every week.

Unfortunately, during rehearsals for tonight’s show, Gómez did a trick when he landed on his ankle wrong, twisted completely and fell on top of it in an awkward way.

The 17-year-old ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ actor is rehearsing for an upcoming routine with partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

He was seen doing a jump and when he landed, he rolled his ankle, falling on top of it in an awkward manner.

“Siiii this is a BANANA! ??? I’m good too! A lil sprain but WE WORKIN!,” he captioned a video of his injury.

In the TikTok video below, you can see the moment Gómez falls as he lands on his ankle the wrong way, spinning it completely backwards.

Chmerkovskiy also reposted Gómez’s video to his Instagram Story, writing, “Because things are going well,” along with a crying emoji.

Luckily, it looks like he’ll still be performing, even though he’ll be competing with a sprained ankle. He followed up in the comments section by writing, “I’m good!! I’m going there tomorrow and we’re ballin’! ?.” Fans are hoping this won’t affect her dancing as she is the front runner this season.

Before the injury, Chmerkovskiy talked about what it was like working with Gómez. “I am very proud of him. For a young age, she is really persistent and focused and yes she works hard,” he said of the Marvel actress. “He was hurt. He kept going.”

Thanks to her dance background, Gómez has a bit of an edge when it comes to the ABC competition show.

“My early dance experience was doing children’s musicals from ages 5-12,” he told Parade recently. “I did an ensemble number for a musical I was in. To be honest, I’m not a flashy person. They usually put me behind! Then I joined TikTok when COVID started and that’s when I started teaching myself the trending dance by watching it over and over. Learning the TikTok dance put me in a happy place during our lockdown and I’m so grateful for it.”
